U.S. Capitol Attack Statement (January 7th, 2021)
Congressional football game BOARD and ORGANIZATION CONDEMN The VIOLENT ATTACKS OF THE U.S. CAPITOL
WASHINGTON (January 7, 2021) – The Congressional Football Game (CFG) – the charity game that brings together members of Congress, former NFL players, and U.S. Capitol Police to raise funds for local Washington, D.C. organizations – today released the following statement, condemning the violent attack on Capitol Hill:
The horrible invasion of the U.S. Capitol is shameful, unacceptable and flies in the face of every democratic principle we work together to protect. We stand behind and remain deeply grateful for the U.S. Capitol Police and their law enforcement partners that demonstrated great courage in the face of perilous conditions to keep Congressional members, staffers and members of the media safe.
Our resolve to advance bipartisanship that reflects and furthers our shared values that condemns violence and destructive behavior is stronger now than ever. Those that caused physical, structural and emotional harm should be swiftly brought to justice and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
